What Makes Wildflower Barnet Day Nursery and Pre-school Unique

At Barnet, the strength of the nursery is in the care, warmth, and attention given to each child.

The team create a positive working environment where staff genuinely enjoy their roles and are committed to helping children thrive. This is reflected in the atmosphere of the nursery and in the relationships children build with the adults around them.

The nursery also places strong importance on inclusion. Children and families are supported through home language words, objects of reference, visual prompts, and close communication with parents, helping every child feel understood and represented.

Children also benefit from additional experiences including Spanish lessons, Heartbeeps sessions, and weekly cooking activities.

Emotional Development and Relationships

Relationships are central to life at Barnet.

Children are supported by staff who know them well and can speak confidently about their interests, routines, and individual needs. This helps children feel safe, understood, and valued.

For children who feel nervous or unsettled, the team offer comfort, reassurance, and time. Parents are encouraged to share information through All About Me forms, including home routines, likes, dislikes, and words used at home.

Children are supported to build confidence, form friendships, and develop emotional security through calm, consistent care.

Food and Mealtimes

Food is an important part of the nursery day.

Meals are nutritionally balanced and planned to support children's growth and development. Mealtimes are social experiences where children can sit together, build independence, and enjoy familiar routines.

Dietary needs are carefully managed through:

  • a traffic light system
  • dietary display boards
  • information held in both the kitchen and rooms
  • child photos to support clear identification
